undertake的意思是“担任，承揽”，指将某事揽入自己的职权范围内或就任某一职务。undertake还可指“开始着手进行某件事”。undertake多用作及物动词，后接名词、动词不定式或that从句作宾语。可用于被动结构。undertake的过去式是undertook，过去分词是undertaken。
